With the upcoming Monsoon’s the rain gives much pleasure to our minds, it brings nightmares in the form of water-borne diseases. Rain means water collecting in the parts of our surroundings and stagnant water leading to contagious diseases. Karkidaka Chikitsa
Karkidakam is the last month based on the Malayalam calendar (which spans from July to August). According to Ayurvedic terms, this is a season that aggravates doshas leading to various health issues. Although Karkidaka is said to invite loads of diseases, the human body is more receptive to Ayurveda treatments because of open pores. The treatments are performed to manage the health issues in Karkidaka for enhancing health in every aspect.
Therapies used in Karkidaka Chikitsa
The use of Karkidaka Chikitsa focuses to detoxify the body and rejuvenating it. Few therapies are used in detoxifying and revitalizing the body.
The use of Karkidaka Kanji – Karkidaka kanji is a porridge made of rice and coconut milk with several herbs of great medicinal value. This helps in revitalizing the body. The kanji is effective and works as magic on the body. This is one of the most enticing factors in the month of Karkidaka.
Treatment of Panchakarma – main objective of Panchakarma is body detoxification. Five methods involved in this therapy are Nasya, Purvakarma (sweating and oil massaging), Basti, Virechana and Vamana (vomiting therapy).
Sukha Chikitsa – This helps in keeping the Vata, Pitta and Kapha in balance. The treatment is for preventing a plethora of lifestyle diseases. The treatment has massages with the use of medicated oil and the consumption of Karkidaka kanji.
Doing Oil Massages – Proper massage is given to the body using hot medicated oil. Snehapana and Abhyangam are the best examples of oil massages.
