Ayurvedic Insight of Parkinson’s Disease
Ancient Ayurveda says that Parkinson’s is caused by a Vata illness that lasts for a long time and gets worse every day. Parkinson’s is called Kampavata in Ayurvedic texts, where Kampa means tremor and Vata means metabolic disorder. Ayurveda says that the Vata Dosha controls how the body moves. Parkinson’s is caused by an imbalance of the Vata Dosha.
Treatment for Parkinson’s?
There are some treatments that work well to ease the symptoms. Ancient Ayurveda takes a more whole-person approach and is thought to heal the problem naturally. The Ayurvedic approach is based on the idea that most problems are caused by imbalances in Kapha, Vata, and Pitta.
Ayurvedic therapies help a lot with getting rid of the symptoms.
- Garlic, which is a great antioxidant and keeps neurons from getting damaged by oxidation. Garlic extracts are very important and helpful for balancing Vata. Mix together 5g of garlic paste, 5ml of gingelly oil, and a pinch of rock salt. When taken twice a day, this mix can help reduce Parkinson’s disease symptoms.
- Make a decoction with 20 ml of Tinospora Cordifolia, 20 ml of Zingiber officinale, and 20 ml of Boerrhvia diffusa. This decoction can be taken twice a day with 10 ml of castor oil. Triphala and Psyllium are two examples of moist laxatives that can be used to treat problems with Vayu (air) in the colon.
- Mucuna Pruriens can be used to treat people when it is taken with herbs that protect the brain, like Ashwagandha and Haridra. The Ashwagandha and Mucuna Pruriens Ayurvedic remedy must be taken with milk twice a day for a few weeks. Herbs like Brahmi and Jatamansi can be added to the mixture or used on their own. They help control things like depression that happen because of the disease.
Controlling Diet in Parkinson’s
Patients should remember that they need to watch what they eat to better control the disease. Being healthy can make it easier for them to deal with the disease and lessen its effects. Therefore—
- Add more fibre to what you eat every day. Peas and beans, whole grain bread, vegetables, cereals, rice, and fresh fruits are all good sources of fibre.
- Foods that are high in cholesterol or saturated fat should be avoided.
- Reduce the amount of milk, curds, sugar, and salt you eat. Drink a lot of water every day, at least eight glasses.
- Don’t drink any alcohol at all, because it could make the medicines less effective.
