Causes of Overweight or Obesity
Ayurveda says that people become overweight when they eat the wrong foods or when they develop bad eating habits and a bad way of life that cause problems with the digestive fire (Agni) and lead to more biotoxins (Ama). When Ama goes up, it messes up the body’s metabolism and makes more fatty tissue (Meda Dhatu Agni). When Ama blocks the passageways of all tissues, it throws Vata out of balance. Vata makes the central digestive fire (Jatharagni) more active, which makes people hungrier. Because of Meda Dhavagni Mandya, which is a slow, fat-burning metabolism, abnormal Meda Dhatu forms, which leads to obesity.

Ayurvedic Management–
According to Ayurveda, obesity is a result of too much Meda (fat) and Mamsa (muscle tissue) accumulating, which makes the hips and abdomen saggy. In Ayurveda, obesity is one of the Santarpanottha Vikaras, or diseases caused by too many calories. Medodushti, which is a problem with how the body breaks down fat, can be a risk factor for Heart Disease.
Aampachan (Eliminating Ama)
Ayurveda says that when Ama is present, it is hard to lose weight. This is why some people don’t lose weight even though they try to eat less. So, it is important to get rid of Ama before trying to lose weight.
